honestly, all of these “Gameplay videos” with these (dork) developers who are neither photogenic and have terrible voices are just about the worst marketing for what otherwise looks like a cool game
it seems just another “abuse” of the Star Trek franchise. Is it possible, i wonder, NO ONE has yet been able to create a ST based game which does NOT involve this damn space battles as the core of the game??????????grrrrrrrrrrrr
Maybe because space battles are incredibly fun? You know it may shock you to learn this, but not everyone wants to go around and sift through a thousand negotiations.
Just so you know, people like those “dork” developers are the reason the modern world exists. Without “dorks” like them, you know, socially awkward people who like science and all that that invented the computer you’re using.
Also, the pople that this game is being marketed to DO NOT FUCKING CARE if the announcer is photogenic or has a good voice.
space battles ARE fun, you won’t have to argue with me on that. But ST is NOT about space battles. You may like it or not, but if you watch ST TOS and TNG over 10 seasons you find what…? 5 battles? ST is about exploration. Adventure in “strange new worlds”. So i think if you are going to use the ST franchise you are gonna have to stick to what ST is about. Or you call the game “Space Wars” or whatnot.
Yes, I know that, I’ve seen almost every episode of star trek ever made ever. But the fact remains, doing what they generally do in the series (which is talk, for the record) would be incredibly fucking boring in a game format.
Maybe so, but then, until someone finds a way to make exploration game-oriented fun, why insist in using the ST franchise for space battles? I don’t mean no battles, but they should not be the main part of the game. My opinion anyway hey… peace man.
Its more like its that stereotype that holds back appreciation of science and technology. However that has nothing to do with putting the geeks on TV to help unmarket a product. Everyone cares about good looks and good voice, that is called reality. LOL, the modern world does not rest on the shoulders of video game nerds. They didn’t invent anything other than ‘tanking and dps’.
I could not agree more. Show me a game with a dynamic, evolving, story, things to discover, and an online environment where the net actions of the players affect the world and balance of power. This is multiplayer asteroids with powerups and instances!
I said LIKE them. No, these people did not invent fantastical amazing things, but without people like them, the modern world would not exist. Who do you think designed the computer your on, in a continuation from my last comment
No, you’re wrong there. Most “nerds” as you call them don’t care if the person talking about the game is the hottest shit on the planet.
I almost agree. They should have no one visible talking. Perhaps a quality voiceover and a focus on real game play instead of these geeks focusing myopically on esoteric game technicals. Are you serious they would not care if it were Patrick Stewart? Because that is what you would have for something with real production value. The more I have checked it out, it seems like this game is canned, cookie cutter and is guaranteed to fail.
Oh well yes it HELPS, but for the most part the trek nerds don’t really care if someone who isn’t perfect is talking. Now, of course, if it were say, Patrick Stewart or Avery Brooks it’d help, but I can’t really see Picard/Sisko talking about space combat in an MMORPG, can you? It would sound…off, if someone else were to say it.
the space combat is crap. there’s a site called instant action where games have more depth to them than that lame shields game crap. The ground combat is great but the space combat is lame. flash games have done it better.
It seems like the ships move on their own in battle?

Agreed. It would already have helped a lot if players could play a single Starfleet or Klingon officer, instead of being a ship.
