Klingon gameplay is one of Star Trek Online’s most unique features. It exists as an additional advancement path for players, and offers different gameplay options to players more interested in player-vs.-player combat.

Players will be able to create a Klingon character after they unlock the first sector block of Federation content, about five hours into the game. Their Klingon character will begin at a rank approximately equal to the Federation character that unlocked the content.

Klingon Captains have the same number of skills available as their Federation counterparts, including the same professions. Your Klingon Captain can be a Science, Engineering or Tactical officer. However, they must advance through PvP, as they will not have access to the same amount of player-vs.-environment content as Federation players at launch.

That’s not to say Klingons won’t be a robust faction. While they are PvP-focused, PvP in Star Trek Online is something we designed from the ground up to be a viable advancement path, meaning both Klingon and Federation players can reach a rank of Admiral solely through PvP. Players can engage in team vs. team, Federation vs. Klingon, Klingon vs. Klingon and Federation vs. Federation combat. What’s more, certain PvP maps will have PvE objectives over which opposing players can struggle.

google_ad_height = 60;
//-->

There are a number of different types of PvP scenarios available.

Challenges allow two teams to square off in a private instance created for them on-the-fly.

Arena maps are team-vs.-team matchups in instances, played either by teams that challenge one another, or by randomly-assigned teams created via a global queue system.

Scenarios feature objective-oriented gameplay like Assault and Area Control. The Assault scenario is straightforward: Move forces from your area to the opponents’, inflicting more casualties than you suffer. The Area Control scenario is more subtle: Capture key objectives and hold them longer than your opponents to win the day.

War Zone maps are static maps that are always open for players to join. Both factions may enter this may enter this map, which has Open Mission-style PvE objectives to achieve, with the twist that members of opposing factions can hinder each other’s progress via PvP.

Klingons also progress through their ships in their own way. Rather than gaining access to a standard Cruiser, Escort or Science vessel, Klingons receive special variants of ships as they progress. As players achieve new ranks, new ships become available to them, like so:

Warrior
B’rel Bird of Prey – capable of cloaking in combat.

Lieutenant
Bird of Prey Mk. 1 – capable of cloaking in combat.

Lieutenant Commander
Bird of Prey Mk. 2 – capable of cloaking in combat.
Raptor Mk. 1 – similar to Federation Escorts.

Commander
Bird of Prey Mk. 3 – capable of cloaking in combat.
Raptor Mk. 2.
Battle Cruiser Mk. 1 – similar to Federation Cruisers, but feature more forward-facing guns.

Captain
Bird of Prey Mk. 4 – capable of cloaking in combat.
Raptor Mk. 3.
Battle Cruiser Mk. 2.

General
Bird of Prey Mk. 5 – capable of cloaking in combat.
Raptor Mk. 4.
Battle Cruiser Mk. 3
Carrier – a massive ship with multiple hangar bays capable of launching several smaller fighters.

In general, Klingon ships have more forward-facing weaponry than their Federation counterparts, and boast greater maneuverability. What’s more, Bridge Officer stations aren’t restricted by class, meaning Captains will be able to put any Bridge Officer they like into any station, regardless of their profession. In terms of ship customization, players will be able to alter the ship’s color and use several varying skins to change a ship’s look.

In Star Trek Online there is an underground phenomenon happening with The Tribble Market. Tribbles in STO are commonly used for healing yourself while you are in out of ground combat, But what a lot of people are not aware of is that some tribble can give you certain buffs that can persist for an hour even in space combat. For example Ricossa Tribble will give you Dps buff and damage resistance which lasts for an hour. You can buff yourself up with your tribble if you can’t goto the ground just visit your bridge and buff yourself and your good to go.

With your new buffs go do your missions , PVP or do your dailies, you will have the advantage over most of the players that don’t know anything about tribble buffs. It can be difficult to figure out what kind of tribble you are looking at in the Exchange, what you can do is right click on the tribble under the information you are going to see a name type of that tribble, for example on this image you can see that this type of tribble is Polygeminus grex “vitales”. The vitales part of the name is the actual type of tribble. Vitales is actually a self heal type of tribble.

The most common type will be Sparkes, Stahl, Susilo Thompson, Tuffli ,dotson and vitales these are just heal types. But you will find on occasion most likely very expensive double and triple buff types for example Mattson Tribble will give you Health Regen and Dps buffs.

There are basically Four Types of Tribbles:

First type of tribble will heal you out of combat for 1.25 seconds. It has a 6 second recharge.

Second Type of Tribble is a Health Regeneration Tribble that slightly increases your natural regenerative capabilities

Third Type of tribble will Buff you with Damage Resistance buff for an hour, it take 1.25 seconds to activate out of combat. This will increase your natural ability to resist all damage types.

Fourth type of tribble is a DPS Tribble, This is one of my favorite buffs since it works both in space and in ground combat. This tribble boosts your natural production of adrenaline improving your damage capabilities.

As you can see tribbles are just not a useless pets that just heals you or eats all your food and batteries in your bag. If you are luck enough to get a tribble with double or even tripple buffs you are all set since it will buff you with all three types at once.

Just an FYI if you buff yourself say with a tribble that does Damage resistance like the Zinc tribble, And buff yourself with a dps tribble like the Mcarry tribble you will lose your first buff and gain the second. So if you find a rare tribble with more than one buff you are set.

For more information on tribble check out this wiki link which list all types of tribbles and it also has information on breeding tribbles if you so choose.

http://sto-intel.org/wiki/Tribble

P.S. If you are a klingon don’t even bother using these tribbles since all they will do is stab you, scream and give you no buffs HAHA. It’s funny to watch thou

Scientific Mandate Mission can be kinda confusing when you head Back to Earth space dock and speak to Lt Commander E’genn he’s not 100% clear on where the location is of Memory Alpha. When you leave the Earth space dock warp out to sector space just head north to Alpha Centauri Sector block You’ll find it there .

Hint: Usually if you are just coming into the Sirrus Sector you can just turn your ship left and you will head right into Alha Centauri Sector Block.

I had issues with this mission in beta so I figured I’ll make a post about it.

When you cross over to the Beta Ursae Sector block you should arrive at the Kailandra Sector. From here all you have to do is move west to the Bajor Sector and DS9 will be right there. Word of caution when you are traveling in this sector be careful this is considered Upper level content in the game around Captain. When you see the enemy encounters try to steer clear unless your around the required level
